Warehouse Activities
The minimum age to volunteer is 14 years old. Youth between the ages of 14 - 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 21 years of age or older. Any youth under the age of 18 must have a signed Parent Permission Form. All volunteers must sign our Volunteer Agreement. Please wear close-toed shoes and long pants.

Food Sorting
Individual and group sorting opportunities are available in both counties:
Volunteers 14 years of age and older are needed to sort food at our warehouses. Volunteers inspect and categorize donated food products, label food packages and repackage food items donated by individuals and food companies. Training is provided at the beginning of each shift.
Team Leader
Opportunities available in both counties. Provide orientation and manage food sorting projects during evening and weekend food sorting shifts. A great way to develop your leadership and presentation skills.
Requirements: Friendly, outgoing, energetic individuals who would like to donate three hours per shift to help supervise our various food sorting projects.
Where: Both Second Harvest Food Bank locations.
When: Sorting opportunities run three hours and are generally two to four times per month in the evenings and on Saturdays.
Commitment: Some volunteer team leaders participate several times a month; others are able to volunteer as infrequently as once every few months.
Checkout
Available in our San Carlos distribution site. Help member agencies retrieve, verify and record food orders. Daytime shifts are available Tuesday through Thursday and are two to three hours in length. Minimum six-month commitment.
