Focused Industry Training (FIT) is an innovative and challenging
training program funded by the Alabama Department of Economic and
Community Affairs (ADECA) and managed by the State of Alabama's
Department of Postsecondary Education. Our FIT site is one of eleven
across the state. FIT offers 400 hours of job training at no charge for
qualified applicants. The course consists of attending classes 40 hours per
week for 10 weeks.

FIT offers training and instruction to enhance your abilities in:
Basic Education, Computer Skills, Job Acquisition, Problem Solving,
Workplace Behavior, Manufacturing (to include training in precision
measurement tools, workplace safety, and quality manufacturing).

To attend the FIT program, you must be 18 years old, qualify as a
low-income wage earner, be able to score at the 7th grade level in reading
and math skills, pass interviews with the FIT Instructor, fully commit to the
strict attendance requirements, and (preferably) have a high school
diploma or GED. New sessions start in October, January, March, and June

The mission of the Workforce Investment Program is to provide
educational and employability skills to 16-21 year old residents of Elmore
and Autauga Counties. We offer WIP services to high school graduates
and to non-graduates who are no longer attending high school. We will
assist you with your employment goals by providing you the educatino and
training you need to start, or enhance, your career. We can even help you
with your job search and put you into our in-house comprehensive
computer course if desired. This program is also funded by ADECA.

Services We Provide:

Funding for the Adult Education and Literacy
program is provided primarily by the Alabama
Department of Postsecondary Education.

The purpose of the Adult Education and Literacy Program is to
provide educational services to those people 16 years of age and
older to:

1) Obtain employment
2) Prepare for the GED examination
3) Prepare for the Alabama Exit Exam
4) Improve academics for employment benefit
5) Prepare for postsecondary education or training
6) Prepare for ASVAB
7) Provide Transition Referral Services
8) Collaborate with other agencies, if needed
9) Provide referral services based on individual needs
