Volunteer grandmas and grandpas, along with special toys and books, provide children between the ages of 1-4 years old with individual play and reading time—it’s never too early to plant the seeds for learning! $50 monthly stipend included, $75 for bilingual volunteers.
Skills
Volunteers ages 55 and older qualify. Willing to work with children in low-income communities. Volunteers must be patient, understanding and caring.

Description
Let's Play is a component of Peaceful Parenting, a Parent Education Program provided by Jewish Family Service, and is funded by the First 5 Commission of San Diego.
Let's Play will utilized trained volunteer grandmas or grandpa mentors.
By tapping into the talents and enthusiasm of volunteer grandma/grandpa (ages 55 and above) mentors, this Intergenerational alliance will build upon the success of other Parent Education Programs at JFS to provide school readiness for families while affording older volunteers the opportunity to contribute to their community.
Grandma/Grandpa mentors will go into the homes of families with children ages 1-4, providing parents with the modeling of critical parent-child interaction, which is designed to prepare the whole family for a successful school experience
