Timber Blowdown and Forest Debris
Oregon Department of Forestry

* Community meetings Dec 13, 14
* Landslides in the Coast Range

The Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) has a team of foresters and support staff on the northern Oregon coast to help counties and landowners solve problems with blown-down timber, woody debris and other forest-related effects of the recent storms. News release

At the request of the affected counties, the team will help in assessing problems and facilitating the removal of trees and woody debris left in the wake of the recent storms that raked coastal forests with high winds.

ODF has field staff available to assist with a variety of issues, including:

* Identifying trees that are still standing but might be hazardous;
* Helping landowners determine if they can derive economic value from fallen timber;
* Working with other public agencies to facilitate the storing of downed logs that may later be placed into streams as part of stream-enhancement projects.

Fallen trees cover roads, yards, and areas of the forest landscape on the northwest Oregon coast. Before starting recovery, here are some important concepts and helpful links to assist you in safely capturing value and protecting your environment.

ALSO information to include:

When preparing to remove timber and wood waste, do it safely.
