Frequently Asked Questions

When do we open?
Monday, August 28, 2017. First Meal will be lunch

How do I make a reservation?

Fill out the form (at the link above) or call 254-859-5411

When do we close? Anticipated closing Sunday, September 10, 2017 at the latest. Unless conditions dictate otherwise.

Is there a cost?

No. This is free. You are encouraged to make a donation to the URJ Relief Fund, which will be partially underwriting this event

Who can come?

If you are a member of the GFC community, or accompanying a member of the GFC
community, and you have been displaced by Hurricane Harvey, you can come to camp. We define that community very broadly (campers as well as congregants and friends).

All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Will there be medical care?

We may have a visiting physician or nurse, but we take no responsibility for
your care or administering your medications. There are
many pharmacies, clinics, and emergency departments to which we can refer you.

What are the Housing Arrangements like?

We will be very flexible and will require you to be, as well.

We have several dozen rooms that have two beds and a private bathroom. We have many dorm rooms, each containing up to 14 beds per room. Some people will be housed by family. Some people will be housed by gender, in a bunk just like summer camp!

What will I eat?

We will serve three hot, nutritious
meals every day, prepared by GFC staff

Do I bring a sleeping bag or linens?
If you have them, bring them. If not, we can provide.

How about Pets?

If your pet is house trained, you can bring him/her/it. The presence of a pet
may influence your housing assignment. They must be fully vaccinated and on a leash, in a crate or room
always.

What is there to do?

We will open and organize many of the GFC facilities as we can staff them.
Remember, we don’t have TVs in the rooms!

Who is responsible for the kids?

Parents are responsible for the activities, behavior, safety and
supervision of the
ir own children.
