Mission
The Council oversees a wide range of programs and services for the Senior Citizens of Acton. Programs include Meals on Wheels, Drop-In Center, Exercise Class, Book Groups, Arts and Crafts, Day Trips, Special Monthly Lunches, and Friendly Visitors. Services include Tax Assistance, Van Service, Medicare Information, Newsletter, Health & Housing Information and Referral, and other social services. A monthly newsletter is sent to all Acton senior residents providing news and a calendar of activities and events for seniors.

FUEL ASSISTANCE:

The Acton Council on Aging works with the South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC) Low Income Home Energy Assistance Fuel Assistance - Need help paying your heating bill? Applications for2007/08 fuel assistance are being taken through May 15th Ifyour yearly gross household income is at or below $20,420 forone you may qualify for some fuel assistance as well as discounts on utility and telephone bills. (Call for income guidelines for larger families.) Call Carol Steiner at the COA 978-264-9643 formore information. Contact Jean Fleming (see above for email) for information about a local emergency fuel fund.

You can also call this site to ask for help from the Friends of the Council on Aging, a private relief group. The Emergency Fuel Assistance Fund adminstered by the Friends of the Council On Aging. This fund receives contributions from some area churches, civic organizations and individuals. Jean Fleming (Director of the Council on Aging) works with the Friends to use these funds to assist needy residents with bills beyond what SMOC can help them with, or for people not eligible for SMOC that need assistance with fuel bills.

To Route 2 East
To Route 27 South (Main Street)

Go through 2 sets of lights and over the bridge. Take an immediate 1st left onto High Street. Proceed up hill to 1st left onto Audubon Drive. Once on Audubon Drive take the 1st left (there is a sign for Senior Center). Parking on left or straight ahead

From Boston:
Route 2 West (through Lexington, Lincoln and Concord)
Go through the Concord Rotary and continue west on Rte. 2
Exit from Rte. 2 onto Rte. 111 (left lane exit)
At full set of lights, take left onto Route 27 S (Main Street)

Proceed through next light, and over bridge. Take an immediate 1st left onto High Street. Proceed up hill to 1st left onto Audubon Drive. Once on Audubon Drive take the 1st left (there is a sign for Senior Center). Parking on left or straight ahead.
