Situation Report 6/16/10

Alabama VOAD
The Alabama VOAD is keeping up-to-date statistics and information about the volunteers, community, and clean-up along the shores of Alabama. 11,045 property damage claims have been filed, primarily for loss of income, and so far, none of them have been denied. $11,266,623 has been paid to date for wage loss and loss of income, most going to gulf fishermen, shrimpers, oystermen, and crabbers.

Five claim centers are open in Alabama, located in Bayou La Batre, Dauphin Island, Foley, Gulf Shores/Orange Beach, and Mobile.

In Alabama, 768 volunteers have worked in response to the oil spill, but many more have offered assistance. 4,421 volunteers had registered up to May 22nd through the BP hotline and 211 to work in Alabama and, since its activation on June 14th, another 1450 volunteered through a new online registration system. All volunteers are encouraged to register on www.ServeAlabama.gov.
