Notes

The Selma Area Food Bank was opened in October of 1993 with
the hard work of a task force against hunger and the cooperation
of the Montgomery Area Food Bank. The food bank is located in
Selma, AL What began as only a handful of agencies in the Selma
area has grown to serve over 85 nonprofit agencies and churches
in a four county service area of Dallas, Perry, Wilcox and Marengo
Counties. The Selma Area Food Bank not only offers its regular
Food Box Distribution Program, but has recently begun a Brown Bag
Program for elderly citizens. Last year, more than 800,000 pounds
of food were distributed to needy families in our four county
service area. Nonprofit organizations and churches may contact
Cissy Dohl for membership application information.
