History:
Camp Love is currently located at the property of Nugent United Methodist Church, 13183 John Clark Road, also in North Gulfport. When completed, it will be one of our newer mission sites, constructed not only to meet the continued needs of this recovery, but also to meet needs of future disasters in both Mississippi and the neighboring states.
Facilities:
Camp Love is located within Gateway UMC, and takes up a large part of the building. Sunday school rooms, meeting rooms, fellowship hall, and kitchen have all been graciously offered by this congregation, and volunteers use it extensively. Sleeping quarters are setup in Sunday classrooms and other unfinished areas of the building. Sleeping bags, cots and air mattresses are suggested for the finished areas. But bunk beds are available in the unfinished area. A limited number of cots and air mattresses are available but we encourage you to bring your own if you are staying in the finished area. Bathrooms and showers are available in the building.
Meals:
Food and necessary items for meals will be provided by your Host Site Coordinators, using the facilities of Gateway UMC. Teams will be asked to provide help in preparation, set up and clean-up of meals. If your team wishes to provide a ‘cook team’ please contact the Host Site Coordinator to make arrangements. Lunches will be packed lunches prepared and packed by team members before leaving for work sites.
