UPDATE FROM AMERICORP DATED 5/15/07:

Volunteers are needed now for Greensburg and surrounding areas!

All volunteers can complete registration forms at the reception
center in Greensburg .

If you are an out of state (KS) volunteer, to arrange deployment
call: 888-413-4327 - In State call:

Respiratory masks are required and available on sight. No one
with serious health issues should volunteer.

Working age limit is 18 if without guardian. Working age of
children (13 and above) with parents. Youth groups can register
with a 1 to 4 ratio of adult to youth. Release forms are available
at the reception center in Greensburg.

Anyone needing work done should contact Americorp at out of state
888-413-4327, in state--# 211 . Americorp is handling all work orders
for Greensburg and the surrounding areas.

No donations of goods are being accepted at this time

Groups interested in volunteering and businesses interested
in loaning equipment to support the recovery effort are being
asked to call the AmeriCorps Coordination phone-314-313-4779
in advance to schedule and match their capabilites with unmet
needs.

The Volunteer Reception area is under the red & white tent
at Davis Park on the East side of Greensburg from 8 a.m. to
6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Americorp is greeting/organizing groups of 6 volunteers or more
at the volunteer reception area in Greensburg, KS. They are also
helping with clean up in structurally sound homes, as well as
helping clear debris in farm fields, repairing fences, and
gathering lost livestock.

A large tent erected just outside Greensburg is serving as a
temporary volunteer center where AmeriCorps processes volunteers
coming into the area.

All volunteers are required to stop and sign in at the center.
They receive a quick safety briefing and a wristband that allows
them to continue into the town. No volunteers are being turned
away and are welcome to help in any capacity they can.

Volunteers unaffiliated with a particular organization receive
work assignments to match their skills. Volunteers affiliated
with faith-based or other organizations, such as Mennonite
Disaster Service, Samaritan's Purse and American Baptist Church
USA, receive work assignments from their organizations.
