Notes

Beginning at 9 a.m. Sat. Aug. 18th, 2007, Cameron county will
open its distribution sites where residents can again pick up
sandbags at a limit of eight bags per vehicle.

The locations include:

Precinct 1 and 2 Warehouse, 3243 E. 14th St.

Precinct 3 Warehouse, FM 510 and San Jose Ranch Rd. in San Benito

Precinct 4 Warehouse, 201 N. Teague Street in Harlingen

All county employees have been ordered to be on stand by.
County employees began boarding up some 50 county buildings
on Saturday.

The county’s public works employees also spent the weekend
filling additional sand bags, a chore they have been working
on for the past week. There are about 30,000 bags that are
filled and an additional 115,000 that are awaiting sand.

Besides preparing sandbags, crews cleaned ditches around the county
to offset the threat of potential flooding.

Cameron county is also getting pumps ready should they be needed,
said County Administrator Pete Sepulveda Jr.

They have also requested the assistance of local farmers should
they need to borrow their pumps to remove standing water should
there be flooding.
