Mission
This is where Volunteer San Diego serves a crucial function. When a disaster strikes, we mobilize San Diegans immediately by posting on our website volunteer opportunities which government agencies and other organizations active in disasters have asked us to help them fill. Volunteers may also call us to be directed to where they are most needed. We update these service opportunities daily or as new needs arise.

I need volunteers:

If you have a volunteer need, we have volunteers waiting to be
dispatched! Email volunteer1@volunteersandiego.org with "VOL OPS" in the
subject line or call (858) 636-4131 and indicate you need volunteers.
If emailing or leaving a phone message, leave your contact information
along with your location, number of volunteers needed, and special
skills (ie. truck drivers, RNs, firefighters, etc.) desired.

Our History
Originally known as the Volunteer Center of San Diego County, the organization was administered as a division of United Way from 1969-1999. In 2000, it became an independent nonprofit. To better serve local volunteers, The Volunteer Center of San Diego County and San Diego Cares merged into Volunteer San Diego in 2002.
