Solidarity

We would like to take a moment to acknowledge that while the COVID-19 pandemic is consuming a lot of our attention, it has not stopped the violence and injustice that exists in the world, and this is very much true for the deep injustices that the black community is facing in the United States.

We stand in solidarity with our colleagues who are feeling the pain of violence and injustice in our state and in our country.
We welcome any input as to how we can ensure that ORVOAD acknowledges, listens and acts to make meaningful change around systemic racism.

Transitions

The time between June and July will mark a transition of leadership for ORVOAD. Michelle and Susan are so happy to welcome Rashad Bauman as the new President of ORVOAD.

==========
ORVOAD - Working Cooperatively in a Crisis

Following a disaster, ORVOAD convenes its members and other agencies to discuss how they will work together cooperatively in the crisis. ORVOAD does not itself deliver services. Instead, its members independently meet relief and recovery needs within the cooperative framework the organization makes possible.

ORVOAD coordinates planning by the many voluntary agencies responding to a disaster so they provide more effective service with less duplication when a disaster strikes.

MEMBERS:
Oregon Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster is not intended to be a competing agency but an umbrella organization of existing agencies. Each member organization maintains its own identity and independence yet works closely with other agencies to improve services and eliminate unnecessary duplication.

ORVOAD consists of voluntary and state government organizations with disaster relief roles. VOAD functions include animal control, building repair, child care, clean up, clothing, communication, counseling, damage assessment, disaster welfare inquiry, financial assistance, food, human relations, mass care, sheltering, transportation, volunteer staffing, and warehousing and bulk distribution.
