- Mission
- The Georgia Department of Agriculture activates the State Operations Center and has teams ready in all five districts to respond to agricultural needs as necessary. This would include surveying the damage and entering into place whatever measures are necessary to ensure the safety of the available food supply remaining in retail stores, etc. The Georgia Department of Agriculture also responds to other needs such as placement of livestock animals, which need relocation due to adverse weather conditions.

When requested, the Georgia Department of Agriculture will inspect human shelters for refugees to determine if the facility is capable of handling companion animals, which may be evacuated by their owners.
The Georgia Department of Agriculture will assist other agencies with their needs as tasked to them through the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA).
