WELCOME to CARe! Providing free disaster recovery help, information and guidance for over ten years. Groups are currently forming in Poway, Rancho Bernardino, Lakeside and East County. We are looking for volunteers in other effected areas. We also have ongoing work in Lake Tahoe.

Be aware that any successful recovery process takes time, and requires complete awareness of your actual damages and knowledge of ALL the benefits of your insurance policy(ies).

We have three ways we can assist you. Handouts and educational materials, meetings and lectures and one on one appointments.

Purpose
Community Assisting Recovery, CARe, is a grass roots non-profit, tax-exempt 501c3 corporation working to restore and strengthen damaged buildings following a disaster (or single event) by educating residents, property owners and construction professionals in the disaster recovery process.

CARe's volunteers are SURVIVORS of natural disasters, and are dedicated to making your path to a normal life after a disaster shorter and easier because of their caring and expertise. Our pages are filled with helpful tips and web links. Have a look around.

History
CARe, with a grant from Fannie Mae, originated in Los Angeles in response to the Northridge Earthquake. Since April 1994, CARe has assisted thousands of homeowners, at no cost to them, to obtain information and resources to rebuild their earthquake, and more recently, wind, fire and flood damaged properties.

CARe has brought to the communities it has served in excess of 3 billion dollars in insurance funds and other resources. For more than eleven years, often through questions raised by property owners at these workshops, CARe has developed a unique understanding of damage detection in, and repair options for, residential and commercial structures.

CARe has provided:

* Damage and loss documentation for mediation and litigation.
* Consultant in disaster victim tax relief legislation
* Testimony at public insurance and disaster hearings
* Participation in successful suite against 20th Century Insurance Company petitioned to the US Supreme Court.
