Notes

Once an office building, now serves as a community resource center and volunteer housing facility. We are located in the heart of Lakeview, one of the areas hardest hit by the flood waters of Katrina. The center offers numerous resources and programs to assist the community in creating a recovery plan and reaching their long term goals. These resources include case workers and connections to vendors such as plumbers, contractors and electricians. Residents will also have access to various tools such as a fax machine, computers, copiers and lawn equipment. There will also be access to volunteers for help with projects and enrichment opportunities such as bible study classes. The staff of the center consists of a full time director and assistant along with the case workers, volunteers from St. Paul's and those coming in from out of town. The upstairs is a home base for 25-30 volunteers and includes a full kitchen.

Volunteers could be involved with any aspect of running the center. Also, crews are organized on a daily basis to work with "Beacon of Hope" an organization that does clean-up projects in the area. "Beacon of Hope" utilizes the homecoming center as a base for some of its operations.
