Lions Club donates to Iowa tornado victims

The Davenport Host Lions Club is donating $3,000 to assist those in need after the tornado disaster in Parkersburg, Iowa, and the surrounding area.
Lions Clubs throughout Iowa are joining together to raise money to assist those who had their homes and personal property damaged or destroyed. There are 383 clubs across Iowa joining the effort. In addition, the Lions Clubs International Foundation sent $20,000 to Iowa.
An account has been set up to receive donations. Checks made out to Disaster Relief Memorial Day 2008 may be sent to:

UPDATE ON DISASTER IN NORTHEAST IOWA:
District Governors Gary Schriver (NC) and Roger Bublitz (NE) both applied for $10,000 LCIF Emergency Grants last Tuesday May 27th. These grants were made with in a couple of hours and the money is on the way to each District. At the State Convention held this past weekend, the Lions of Iowa went on recotrd in support of an initiaitive started by the Cedar Falls Lions Club. During the Business Session at the State Convention containers were made available for individual donations and over $1300 was raised. The Cedar Falls Lions are coordinating a fund drive in cooperations with the Lions clubs of Iowa and the Iowa Lions Foundation. Any Club or individual wishing to doante to help in the Lion's Relief effort in Northeast Iowa, please make checks payable to Memorial Day Disater Relief Fund 2008 and send to Cedar Falls Lions Club, c/o Fred Abraham, Treas; University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, IA 50614-0129. The monies collected will be divided among the various areas as determined by the two District Governors.
