Volunteers are still needed in the Parkersburg area! Groups or individuals interested in helping should first call the Iowa Concern Hotline (1-800-447-1985) to make sure that volunteers are being accepted. Because of weather and/or safety issues, there are times when volunteers cannot be utilized. Once given the go-ahead, volunteers should report to the Volunteer Station between 8:15 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The Volunteer Station is located at Newell Avenue and Circle Drive on the East end of Parkersburg (near the intersection of Hwy 14 and 57). Volunteers may be deployed from the Parkersburg Volunteer Station to surrounding communities, as appropriate.
Volunteers should wear long sleeved clothing, pants and closed-toed shoes or boots. Volunteers should bring water, gloves, safety glasses, sunscreen and lunch. If possible, volunteers should have their tetanus shots updated prior to arriving.
