Those wishing to assist victims may send monetary donations to their local Salvation Army units earmarked for disaster relief. Monetary donations can also be made by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY. In Cedar Rapids, non-monetary donations may be dropped off at The American Legion through Sunday, June 8 at 4719 J Street SW. The contact number is 319-354-6146. Needed items include: blankets, first aid kits, batteries, flash lights, personal care items, garbage bags, gloves, Ziploc bags, men’s clothing, pots and pans, beds and non-perishable food items.
