Spoke to City Hall Volunteer/Resources Coordinator 3:15 CST 6/13/08:

47 houses +businesses (some which are also residences) impacted by flooding:

3 red tagged
34 yellow tagged
10 green tagged

Red Cross is on the ground and taken over feeding operations at the Central Community School (The community has been feeding for 3 days initially).

Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Workers are on the ground.
Red Cross Case Workers are not on the ground yet.

They serve about 260 meals for lunch/dinner (less for breakfast)
Showers are now available at the school for residents/volunteers
Emergency Community Meetins take place daily at 7 p.m. in the lunchroom of the Central Community School

FEMA is on the ground and setting up doing preliminary assessments. They have no federal declaration yet.

National Guard is on the ground.

Building Inspectors have been through flood damaged homes once so far.

Next week Childcare from 9 am to 12 p.m. will be available at the Peace United Church of Christ (see CAT Database facility record at: https://ccc.haghy.com/shelters/3130)

Tetnus shots are available through the Visiting Nurses Office in Elkader, IA. A second shipment of the vaccine is coming shortly (See CAT Facility entry for the Visiting Nurses Assoc. at: https://ccc.haghy.com/shelters/3132)

Flood Clean-up: A big crew of volunteers coming in Sat. 6/14/08 and 20 volunteers coming in Mon. 6/16/08.

Overall, per Mayor Bob Garms, things are going quite well and they have no immediate urgent needs for supplies or services.
