Notes
Spoke to Pastor Kathy Moore 6/16/08:
No basic supplies are needed at this time. They have approximately 20 people sheltering and can house possibly up to an estimate of 30 max and a few more pets. All pets are in crates, and they have plenty of pet food. People are sleeping on air mattresses. Food is being brought in by locals and restaurants to feed folks. There is no shower facility at this very small church, so church members are taking families to their homes to allow them to use their shower facilities.
This pet friendly evacuation shelter will remain open as long as is necessary, whether they have a few or over 20 people.
They don't have any plans in stone, but will most definetely be a part of the Long Term Recovery to assist their neighbors in the community through this difficult time of recovery. Their specific operations will be revealed over time.
They are offering property space for any orgs/operations that want to set up donation site collections, distribution, headquarters, etc. as they are a small church (no sanctuary) but sit on 8 acres of land on safe high ground.
