Notes
LTel 6/20/08 Spoke to Steve Murdock/Baptist Convention of Iowa:
They have 100-150 disaster trained volunteer units in the area's listed above they are serving. Right now, they have all volunteer needs covered, but see below to be placed on a list for 'untrained' volunteer needs and you will be called on an as needed basis.
The Iowa Baptist Convention coordinates feeding units, shares food stores to provide mobile meals to disaster survivors and volunteers, as well as coordinating with the Southern Baptist Convention to coordinate disaster response teams to deploy.
Mobile feeding units are generally located near or on site at EOC Command Headquarters, Disaster Staging locations. They will always be in a very obvious and accessible area for both survivors and volunteers to reach and they are currently serving hot lunch/dinners (specific locations not available to this contact).
Response is going well and they have no outstanding supply/volunteer needs.
Currently, mud-out teams are on standby waiting for standing water to be pumped out of neighborhoods and houses. Water has to be gone to be able to perform a mud out.

How you can contribute to Iowa SBC Disaster Relief.
The Baptist Convention of Iowa is receiving assistance from SBC Disaster Relief in the form of feeding units, shower units, mud-out units and many trained volunteers from across the country. We are very grateful for this assistance.
Please call our offices at 515-278-1566 if you would like to be involved in the response to the flooding and tornado disasters we have experienced in recent days. We are asking churches and individuals to contact our offices instead of the churches in the affected areas in order to free up their phones and personnel as they deal with the flooding.
We welcome individuals to contribute financially and the instructions below will guide you.
