Applying for Federal Assistance

· President Bush has declared Johnson County a disaster area, enabling Johnson County residents who are victims of the flood to apply for federal assistance.

· When applying for aid, residents will need the following information:

Social security number, current and pre-disaster address, telephone number, insurance information, total household income, and a description of your losses caused by the disaster

· Residents may apply for assistance using one of the following methods:

o Calling (800) 621-FEMA (3362) or hearing and speech impaired may call TTY (800) 462-7585.

§ Phones are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week

o Apply online at www.fema.gov

§ All branches of the Johnson County Public Library will be providing free internet access and free printing to flood victims applying for federal assistance.
