From their website:
First Lutheran of Columbus has been active in supporting debris removal, demolition, and clean-up. The congregation will continue to support rebuilding, but this effort will take much longer due to the nature of the work and the need for FEMA and construction inspections and application for building permits. If you have special construction skills and would like to help, please download
(from http://www.iksynod.org/Midwest%20Flooding/firstluthcolumbusinmain.asp) and fill out a volunteer form and mail it to First Lutheran at the address given above. This information will be provided to our families in need.

=============================================================================
Six families of First Lutheran Church in Columbus, Indiana were driven from their homes by flooding. At this time, all have found temporary living arrangements with family or friends. During the last few weeks, there has been a concentrated effort to remove damaged carpet, drywall, insulation, and household goods. Many of the homes have been gutted and are being inspected by FEMA in preparation for repair and refinishing.
These families need time to rebuild, prayer support, and financial support for the rebuilding process. Many of the homes that flooded were not in the flood plain, so they did not have flood insurance. First Lutheran Church of Columbus, Indiana, is taking a special offering that will be augmented by a special gift from the First Lutheran Foundation. If you would like to support this effort, please send a check to:

Columbus Community Support
It is estimated that a total of 1,500 homes were damaged by flooding in Bartholomew County. Some of these home owners are the most needy, since they may not have a church family to help support them. While Columbus churches are banding together to help everyone, the need for food and support is substantial. Support is provided by the following local organizations:
Love Chapel: This ecumenical organization supports the community through a food pantry and emergency funding. Donations of non-perishable food, water, and monetary donations are welcome. Location: 311 Center Street, Phone: (812) 372-9421.
Eastside Community Center: Eastside Community Center provides food to lower income people in Columbus. As of June 19, they were delivering 600 box lunches to flood victims each day. Contact them directly if you would like to help provide prepared foods. Location: 421 McClure Road, Phone: (812) 376-7840.
Red Cross: The Red Cross is providing food, first aid, and counseling to those affected by the flood. Location: 931 Repp Drive, Phone: (812) 379-9551.
Salvation Army: The Salvation Army provides clothing, cleaning supplies, and emergency aid to families in need. Location: 2525 Illinois Avenue, Phone: (812) 372-7118.
Sans Souci: Sans Souci is a local organization much like the Salvation Army. Location: 1526 13th Street, Phone: (812) 372-3419
