Sauk County Flood Volunteer Information
VOLUNTEER INFORMATION UPDATE (06-26-2008)
Effective June 26th, "Samaritan's Purse" - a Disaster Relief Unit (DRU) has opened it's Volunteer operation base in Baraboo. The DRU will be accepting Volunteers for assignments to all of the Sauk County communities that have been effected by the recent flood. The former operation staged at the Baraboo Middle School has been CLOSED, and all volunteers are asked to report to "Samaritan's Purse". Volunteers are asked to call "Samaritan's Purse" at 608-237-7058, or stop by their operation site at Walnut Hill Bible Church (1900 East Street, Baraboo) to learn how they can help out. Volunteers no longer need to call the Sauk County Emergency Management office, as "Samaritan's Purse" is handling that activity for Sauk County EM.
Volunteer Expectations:
Volunteers may be asked to begin their shift at the Walnut Hill Bible Church (1900 East Street, Baraboo, WI) where they will be provided with training, safety materials and assignments. In most cases the volunteers will be transported to and from a work site. They should expect that they will be cleaning up at different sites around Sauk County that have been exposed to flooding conditions. Volunteers may be asked to perform strenuous activities, bending & lifting, as well as endure wet & muddy conditions. Weather and other unforseen conditions may cause the volunteer to leave and return on another date. Volunteers are encouraged to wear jeans or long pants, work style footwear for wet conditions, short sleeved shirts are at the choice of the volunteer - but it would be good to have a long sleeve shirt available if needed. Please bring gloves and safety glasses if you have them. Basic safety gear will be provided. If rain is in the forecast - dress accordingly!
