===================================================

First Baptist Church is one of 5 Supply POD's in Hancock
County serving the devastated community of Lakeshore which
was ground zero for Hurricane Katrina. They are located
just north of Waveland, MS and 1 1/2 miles inland and took
on 43 foot of water. Folks 8 miles inland in this area took
on 15 foot of water.

This POD serves up to 300-400 people daily with food, clothing
and personal hygiene distribution to struggling local residents.
They have 6-8 long term committed full time volunteers at this
facility.

There is a great need for continued support on all levels for
the purposes of rebuilding and basic everyday survival needs.
So far they have been responsible for gutting and assisting with
the rebuilding of 90-100 local homes.

If you would like to make a donation of building supplies/materials,
personal hygiene necessities, food, or are an individual/group
interested in volunteering, please contact Volunteer
Coordinator/Distribution Coordinator Greg London at:

gjlondon@bellsouth.net

Lakeshore Baptist Church can house 200 + volunteers and they
have a fully functioning kitchen, Quanza Hut (serves as a
sanctuary for the church and volunteer housing), Bunkhouses,
Tents to house volunteers, Shower/Bathroom/Laundry facilities
available. Volunteers will be fed daily and can stay cost free
but are asked to make a donation for perishable foods that
require refrigeration. The site also features a sawmill for
rebuilding purposes.

They are especially in great need of skilled labor volunteers,
building supplies/materials, personal hygiene products and food.
They also really need a truck trailor (the size of an 18 wheeler)
for the purposes of storage.
NOTE: Greg London with Lakeshore Baptist Church wants
everyone to know that they have a very smooth running
operation for distribution/rebuilding and he's more
than happy to share his experience with other org's and
faith based groups that need advice or help getting started.
One former military volunteer likened their set up to front
line operations in Iraq. He'll talk to anyone to help
whether they are in the Gulf or other disaster area's in
the U.S.

NOTE: Available items are listed, because this POD receives
ongoing donations. Please coordinate with Greg London/Distribution
Coordinator for current availability of supplies.

Residents should apply for gutting/rebuilding assistance Wed.
through Sat. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sanctuary/Distribution
Quanza Hut building. An assessment will be conducted and
Spiritual Counseling is available as well.

Worship services are every Sunday at 11:00 a.m. & Wednesdays at
6:30 p.m.
