From Flood Notes/Hawk Eye Happenings dated 8/1/08:
The American Red Cross is opening a service center for Gulfport residents in need of assistance as a result of recent flooding. Trained Red Cross caseworkers will be on hand to conduct one-on-one interviews and provide assistance for emergency needs for those affected.
Red Cross workers will be at the Red Cross office in the Farmers & Merchant Bank Building, 218 N. Third St., Suite 804, Burlington.
The service center will be open from 1 to 7 p.m. today, Thursday and Friday.
Gulfport residents are encouraged to bring a photo ID and proof of residency. For more information, please call the Red Cross at (319) 754-5496.
