STATUS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY - Rebuilding Homes
At the July 2nd, Gulfport City Council meeting, GKK was denied our request for a one-year extension on our current site. The property owners willingly offered an extension our our lease, as they have claim to have no immediate plans for redevelopement of the property, but our operation here on the site was denied. The courtroom was packed, many supporters of GKK, yet the city council members voted to not extend our temporary operation here.

As first responders they will be on stand-by July 31, 07. Volunteers will continue to assist in rebuilding with/for local church ministries UNTIL A NEED ARISES FOR FIRST RESPONSE ON FUTURE DISASTERS!!!
SKILLED HELP is always needed!

Donations/Volunteers
God's Katrina Kitchen is operated entirely on donations and by volunteers. Without the donations and volunteers, God's Katrina Kitchen could not continue serving the Katrina survivors and the Mississippi Gulf Coast communities. We are not sponsored by any denomination or specific church, we represent the Body of Christ, "Many Churches, One God".
If you, your church group, youth group, or college group are interested in volunteering, and have a heart to serve others, we would love to have you here. We are especially in need of skilled volunteers, such as, electricians, plumbers, framers, contractors, drywallers, hvac and any other skill needed in building homes. We can also use people skilled in culinary work. So, if you would like to have a life-changing experience while you serve others, give us a call and schedule to come down. If you can't come down, consider making a donation.
We are in need of building materials for assisting residents with rebuilding or repairing their damaged homes. We are building homes from the ground up (our version of "extreme home makeovers") and will be needing building supplies to complete these projects. To contact us regarding donations of building materials: workteams@godskatrinakitchen.org
History: Greg Porter came down with his grills and just started feeding everyone. This grew into an operation serving thousands/day. The site now operates as a "downtown" for relief workers and residents rebuilding their lives.
Meal Times:
MEALS ARE NO LONGER SERVED TO PUBLIC, VOLUNTEER GROUPS

GKK CLOSES, VOLUNTEER WORK TEAMS WILL STILL BE SERVING
IN AREA:
The Distribution Center was closed down on Saturday, June 24, due to dropping demand for it's services and consistent supply of donated goods. We always knew the distribution center would be closing down, it was just a matter of when, and with much deliberation we decided it was time. We will now begin moving the kitchen and dining area into the big tent, as well as supplies for the kitchen. We will also have an area for our nightly services and concerts.
God's Katrina Kitchen also sends both skilled and unskilled volunteer work teams into the communities. These work teams provide services such as property clean-up, gutting houses, roofing, construction, electrical, and etc. We are rebuilding homes from the ground up, as we help rebuild the lives of the many survivors of Katrina.
God's Katrina Kitchen has nightly services, featuring praise and worship, special music, testimonies, and speakers from all around the nation and beyond.
We run God's Katrina Kitchen using volunteers. There are 20-30 long-term volunteers keeping everything going with the help of short-term volunteer groups. God's Katrina Kitchen runs only on volunteers and donations.
If you would like to have a life changing experience serving others, we would love to have you or your group as volunteers. Come work in the service of God at God's Katrina Kitchen. You will be blessed as you bless others.

OLD NOTE: This area is still quite devastated. No phone lines. No internet.
Although faith-based, they feed everyone. The group has been considered, by unaffiliated non-faith-based community groups, to be one of the key groups feeding people in the Hancock County region. Please help them if you can.
