Terrebonne Parish President Michel Claudet has called a voluntary evacuation beginning at 10 a.m. today for bayou communities from Pointe-aux-Chenes to Dularge.
“The traditional areas that take on water,” said Bill Dodd, a Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office attorney acting as a spokesman for the Emergency Operations Center. “They know who they are.”
Houma Junior High, which was used as a shelter after Hurricane Gustav, will remain open for evacuees. It has a capacity of more than 300, Dodd said.
