LTel 9/12/08 8:46 pm CST:

Spoke to Barry Bonvillain, Shelter Mgr. at E. Park Rec. Ctr.

They are up to 200 evacuees and expect 80% to leave by tomorrow.

8:30 am today a Red Cross Volunteer came in and promised cots, never heard back from him again.

11:30 am 2 Red Cross nurses arrived and announced, "we're here to assist". Barry advised they could set up in a spot and they were there for 30 minutes and came back to tell Barry "We're at the wrong shelter! We have to leave".

This afternoon he spoke to a Sherriff asking for security. Was promised two police officers would come to guard the shelter. None ever showed up.

KFC donated meals. They have enough leftover bisquits to feed them breakfast.

At this point, Barry doesn't want help from the Red Cross because they make promised they won't keep.

Barry is strictly sheltering residents of the Bayou Communities and is not allowing Houma residents because they have no need for shelter.

CShe 9/12/08:

I saw this very brave man on HTV 10
announcing the opening of this much needed shelter
and had the honor of speaking to him personally.
