Notes
Volunteers Needed Oct. 12-18 & Oct. 26-31!
In addition to helping local families, volunteers and aid workers are also making it a priority to assist first responders as well as the elderly, disabled and sick. Right now, there are more than 400 active work orders waiting to be completed.
OBI is coordinating the volunteer efforts in Bridge City and housing and feeding volunteers at their headquarters at Cathedral of the Pines church in Beaumont, Texas. More volunteers are needed to complete the enormous task of helping the resident's cleanup. For more information, visit www.ob.org/volunteer.asp or e-mail volunteer@ob.org.

Power has been restored to some of Beaumont, but not to the church where we are headquartered. Our staff and a team of electricians got our generator hooked up to the church’s Family Life Center where we are now able to house volunteers. It is running like a champ and powering the whole building. Our base camp is now up and running including volunteer accommodations and a shower trailer.
Right now, our greatest need is for volunteers to help with gutting homes, debris removal and general clean up. We have volunteers signed up through next week, but need a lot more. Interested volunteers can contact our volunteer coordinator at volunteer@ob.org.

OBI's motor convoy of disaster relief staff, mobile command center, mobile kitchen, 20-ton crane, skid steer loader, construction trailer and truckloads of roofing supplies, food, water and relief supplies, left a staging area near Dallas Sunday morning headed to Beaumont.
"The situation changes every day," Horan said. "This storm is at least as bad as Katrina and much more widespread."
Two teams of 10 people are ready and poised to go out into the communities to aid the victims. Already, OBI provided aid to 2,000 evacuees staying at a local Wal Mart by setting up shower facilities.
