CRISIS COUNSELING/MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

The Los Angeles Department of Mental Health is offering free mental health crisis counseling services to victims of the Sayre Fire at two San Fernando Valley Centers.

Hours of operation: Both centers are open 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The first 6 sessions are at no cost. Sliding scale is available therafter.

For more information and after-hour services, contact the Department of Mental Health’s ACCESS Center at 1(800) 854-7771. The ACCESS Center is open 24 hours a day, including holidays.

Red Cross disaster relief focuses on meeting people’s immediate emergency disaster-caused needs. When a disaster threatens or strikes, the Red Cross provides shelter, food, and health and mental health services to address basic human needs. In addition to these services, the core of Red Cross disaster relief is the assistance given to individuals and families affected by disaster to enable them to resume their normal daily activities independently.

* Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest/Lutheran Disaster Response

Professional case management services to disaster survivors with special emphasis on helping individuals and families establish their own personal “Long-Term Disaster Recovery Plan,” which often includes securing resources, spiritual and emotional care, and acquiring financial support from a variety of sources. LSS-SWalso works with entire communities to facilitate and work with the formation of long-term disaster recovery committees to help maximize utilization of available resources and minimize duplication of services.

* Catholic Charities Counseling Services

The program provides access to affordable counseling services for individuals and their families, especially those who have limited or no financial resources, and provides support to Archdiocesan schools and parishes, especially in times of crisis. Counseling is available at four sites in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara counties: Pomona, San Pedro, Venice and Santa Barbara. Services include pre-marital and marital counseling, group therapy, crisis counseling, domestic violence counseling, assessment, information and referral.
