FROM THE HANCOCK COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM WEBSITE:
List of Needs
We are contacted almost daily by people, communities, and organizations who desire to help the Hancock County Library System here in ground zero for Hurricane Katrina. They always ask, "What do you need?" So we have compiled a list of needs. Everything from Kleenex to copy machine toner is included in this list.
If you find something you wish to donate, please contact Mary Perkins, Public Affairs/Development Officer at 228.467.6836. Cash donations are accepted through The Library Foundation of Hancock County. To learn more about this click here. We accept VISA and MasterCard. All gifts, whether physical items or cash, are most deeply appreciated.
And please do not think us ungrateful, but at this time, we cannot accept gifts of books. With two branches destroyed and two branches with heavy water damage, we have no storage facility for books.
----------------------------------------
The Volunteer Resource Center/Coordination Services has moved to the Hancock County EOC.
In the early days of the aftermatch Sandra Ladner, who runs the library, dedicded that since the building stood after the storm that it would be a good thing to use the location for coordinating volunteers. She started the VRC. People could call in and request and request volunteers. Volunteers can still go there and get assignments, but it's requested that volunteers register with Karen Perry at the Hancock County EOC.
The library is now a library again...
The library hours are:
M-Th: 8-6
