Who to call in rural Cass County for leaking levees or evacuation
At the flood information meeting for Stanley Township at Discovery Middle School on Monday night, Cass County Engineer Keith Berndt told a crowd of about 200 that if anyone sees leaks in one of the earthen dikes that the county is building south of Fargo, they are to call the county's emergency center at (701) 241-5793.
Sheriff Paul Laney said that same number - or 911 - is also good for rural residents to call if they need assistance getting out of a flooded area. Laney also said residents can call the emergency center to be put on a list of homes which patrollign deputies will check in on until the floodwaters recede.
