About this facility

Mission
from website:
During a disaster, evacuees, disaster victims and emergency workers face tremendous stress. That stress can quickly debilitate one's ability to respond to impending danger. Giving them shelf stable, nourishing foods and nutritional supplements helps them to quickly and resourcefully react to the challenges before them.
To help, Nourish America has activated its award-winning disaster relief program again, partnering with the National Foundation for Women Legislators as well as many emergency service organizations. Come join us in this worthy effort. Help us support those whose lives have been up-turned by this natural disaster.

============
Nourish America is committed to provide the daily essential nutrition that impoverished American children, families, pregnant moms, and seniors and others in need require to live productive, successful lives.

We do this by providing them nutrient rich foods and products such as vitamin supplements and nourishing foods (including naturals and organics). Our distribution network includes thousands of volunteers and staff who work at hundreds of Nourish America partner organizations and agencies serving those in need across all 50 states.

Nourish America partners include public schools, churches, Head Start, Healthy Start and WIC programs, homeless and battered women shelters, public health departments, medical clinics, the American Red Cross, Volunteers of America, Salvation Army, Boys and Girls’ Clubs, Feed the Children, Native American programs, YMCA and YWCA, City Park and Recreation Departments, hospital outreach programs, National Guard units, area Councils on Aging, public health departments, medical and nursing school community outreach programs, and many other community and faith-based organizations.

Disaster Response
When a major disaster falls upon U.S. citizens, Nourish America is quick to respond by providing nutrient support to those who are traumatized by fear and loss. After Hurricane Katrina, Nourish America provided nutritional support to tens of thousands of children and their parents through the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, New Orleans Health Department and through its own distribution network throughout the Gulf States.

Last year Nourish America supplied nutritional support to hundreds of thousands of evacuees, disaster victims as well as emergency workers at disasters such as Hurricane Ike, California Wildfire Crisis, Midwest Flooding Crisis. Thanks to our donors we were able to provide over four million dollars of nourishing foods and supplements such as protein bars, energy drinks, multi-vitamins. As climate changes continues to create natural disasters from coast to coast, Nourish America will continue to respond quickly to help those in need.

“When the life of an entire region is turned upside-down with a storm the size of the state of Texas, people emerge who really come to the rescue,” said State Representative Debbie Riddle. “My constituents and I cannot adequately put into words the depth of gratitude that we feel for the people from Nourish America and its donors who have hearts bigger than the hurricane and who have been so generous providing water and nutrition when we needed them most. They were absolutely precious to so many.”
