Sunday, March 29, 2009:

ACS/DR teams in North Dakota are setting up a donations management warehouse in Bismark. Les Morrison of ACS/DR Minnesota, Minnetonka ACS Director, picked up approximately 25 cages and other supplies from Richfield on 3/27 and delivered to emergency pet shelters in Moorhead, MN on 3/28. Bob Hilde of ACS/DR Minnesota visited with the Detroit Lakes congregation 3/28 and rallied up many local volunteers in the event we are activated. We do have a great lead for volunteers through First Link and volunteers from the University. Elder Dr. Scott Turner of Moorhead church has helped locally to scout out possible locations for a donations management warehouse in Moorhead.

At this time, Adventist Disaster Response North American Division leadership team has put us in "wait" mode. Our response will depend largely on the number of evacuees in the Fargo/Moorhead area. The MN VOAD & Homeland Security has notified Bob Hilde that a warehouse response is likely to be requested in the near future.

Volunteers:
In the event we are activated, we will need many local volunteers to serve in various roles. What can you do? Answer phones, sort donations, shipping/receiving, data entry, meal preparation and/or delivery, certified fork lift driving, etc. Volunteers do not have to be certified and do not have to be Adventist, but should be over 18. If you are available to volunteer, please call AIM at 1-800-381-7171 so that we may contact you after we are activated.

Donations:

Please do not donate any used clothing or water.
No "goods" are requested at this time.

If you feel the calling to donate "goods", please contact United Way at 2-1-1 to coordinate the donation.

Monetary donations are always best in disaster situations. Please donate funds through your tithe envelope. Mark the donation for "MN ACS/DR Fund". To ensure that leftover funds may be used for future disasters, please do not allocate funds specifically for flooding.
