Emergency food pantry requests community help

In order to keep pace with the demand for food, the Emergency Food Pantry of Fargo is asking for food donations.

Requests for food have increased because of the flood, according to a news release. The pantry provided food for 171 people on Monday, an increase of 25 percent. At the same time, a major Boy Scout food drive was postponed, which has reduced the pantry's food supply, the release stated.

The Emergency Food Pantry is asking residents to donate food at the baskets located in local grocery stores and churches. Cash donations can be sent to the Emergency Food Pantry, PO Box 5363, Fargo ND 58105.

For those with emergency food needs, the pantry can fill requests only by referral. Referrals can come from social service agencies, churches or similar organizations.

For more information, contact Emergency Food Pantry Coordinator Linda Clark at (701) 237-9337 or (701) 280-1817.
