Mission
from website: Mission Central is the mission warehouse of the Central Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church. Our partners include other United Methodist conferences in the Northeast Jurisdiction as well as a host of denominational and nondenominational mission groups in southcentral Pennsylvania. Since our beginning in June 2002, Mission Central has hosted thousands of volunteers who come to Mission Central to experience being "the hands and feet of God" in service. With our volunteers, we process United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) "Relief Kits" for use around the world, provide all types of needed supplies for local and national ministries, and assist many projects that are sending God's love around the world.Working in concert with other denominational and nondenominational programs, we have sent medical supplies, educational supplies, and daily living supplies and equipment to destinations such as Africa, Argentina, Kenya, Belarus, and other areas where the needs are great. Our work in disaster response has provided aid for people affected by every major weather event since 2003. As a ministry of the Central Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church, Mission Central is governed by a 27 member Board of Managers elected annually by the Central PA Annual Conference. We are a separate entity, connected to the Central PA Annual Conference through the Conference Council on Ministries with membership on the Conference Board of Global Ministries. Mission Central conducts its activities within the social principals of the denomination.

The Challenge!

In November, 2006, Mission Central began to search for a way to enable persons from the more distant regions of our Conference to participate in the kind of volunteer and service activities experienced in Mechanicsburg without having to travel so far! With the recent increases in fuel costs, a means to accomplish this goal has become even more significant as we seek the means to enable God's people to be His hands and feet in service!

The Solution!

HUBs - places where people could go and experience a smaller version of Mission Central that was directed and managed by people feeling called to expand our outreach - were devised in February, 2007. What we envisioned as a one or two location start has grown beyond our imagined level of interest - putting us way ahead of our intended schedule!
