Residents Urged to Push Debris to Curb by Dec. 11th
Dec. 31st Targeted Completion Date for Public Right of Way Mission in MS HANCOCK COUNTY -

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers today announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has targeted December 31st as a final pass completion date for clean-up of the public right of ways in Mississippi. Residents can help expedite the clean up of Hancock County by moving as much debris to the curbside by Dec. 11th. This will help FEMA and the Corps meet the Dec. 31st target date, ultimately allowing for a focused transition to private and commercial property debris clean up.

As part of the right of way mission, FEMA gave the Corps authority to remove debris from the public right of ways, which is defined as a city or county road. Federally funded roads are being cleaned by the Mississippi Department of Transportation. To date, the Corps has removed more than 1.7 million cubic yards from Hancock County (excluding Waveland north of the track, which is managed by the City of Waveland). There is a total estimated 1.9 million cubic yards of debris in the public right of way in Hancock County under the Corps program.

Concurrently, the Corps continues to execute its FEMA assigned mission of clearing debris from private property that creates an immediate threat to lives, public health and safety as a result of Hurricane Katrina. The Corps has collected more than 7,200 right of entries from Hancock County residents and has completed work on 58 of those properties.

Statewide, the Corps has removed more than 10 million cubic yards of debris in the public right of ways stemming from Hurricane Katrina.

Right of Entry Centers to Consolidate November 30th

Starting Wednesday, Nov. 30th the Right of Entry (ROE) collection centers throughout Hancock County will be consolidated. Residents needing to sign a ROE for private or commercial property debris removal may do so Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at:
County Government Offices- Building Permit Trailer #15 - 3068 Longfellow Road, Bay St. Louis

Additionally, ROEs can be signed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the following locations only on the following days:
Tuesdays- Pearlington Charles B. Murphy School starting December 6th.
Thursday- Diamondhead Property Owners Association starting December 8th

A signed ROE is required before the Corps can do any debris removal off of private or commercial property. After an ROE is signed by a property owner, it is logged into a database and sent to city and county officials for eligibility determination. Residents should clearly mark their address on their property for inspectors. Once deemed eligible, the Corps dispatches inspectors to the local property to review and document site conditions. This information is compiled into a packet that the contractor will use to begin work. The Corps has currently received more than 7,000 ROEs. At this time, the Corps has not defined a timeline for the physical start of actual debris removal once an ROE has been signed, so public patience is being requested. However, signing an ROE is the first step in the process.

Hancock County residents, with the exception of Waveland and Bay St. Louis residents, can either come back to the area to sign a ROE form, provide legal authority to someone in the area to sign a ROE on their behalf, or send someone with legal authority to the area to sign a ROE on their behalf.

The cities of Waveland and Bay St. Louis, upon receiving both the local home address and the out of area temporary living address, will mail a ROE form to the land owner. The ROE must then be completed and signed by the land owner and notarized assuring that the signature is in fact authentic.

Hancock County (MS) EOC Public Information: FAQ's for 10-13-05

http://hancockcountyeoc.blogspot.com/2005/10/faqs-for-10-13-05.html

Terrra, I found this info on the above page:

FEMA/TEMPORARY HOUSING/TRAILERS

How are temporary travel trailers being provided?
The temporary travel trailers are being provided by FEMA on a priority basis, and each applicant is assessed. The first priority is providing trailers to those who have no shelter or are living in a group shelter. Other requests are evaluated on needs such as family or health issues and when the application was received.
Do I need to pay for a power pole to support my travel trailer?
No, the power pole is provided and you do not need to purchase or provide one yourself. You should, however, contact your power company.

How do I contact FEMA to apply for temporary housing or register for disaster assistance?
Call to register for FEMA Disaster Assistance at (800) 621-FEMA (3362), TTY at (800) 462-7585, or visit www.fema.gov. Housing applications are also available in the FEMA tent at K-mart. Bring this information to register: social security number, address with zip code, insurance information, directions to your damaged home and daytime telephone contact number.

If I accept emergency housing in an emergency group site, will I lose my place in line to have emergency housing placed on my property?
No, you will keep your place in line. DO NOT MOVE the mobile home. Itâ™s federal property.

How do I sign up for the Army Corps of Engineers BLUE ROOF PROGRAM?
Sign up by calling (888) ROOF-BLU (7663-258) or visit the Train Depot in Bay St. Louis or Card Room at the Diamondhead Community Center.

Where do I call for FEMA trailer maintenance problems?
Call toll free at 1-866-877-6075 for Local calls 601-352-8342 or collect at 240-379-3600.
