Notes from old disasters:

In response to recent flooding in Atlanta, Ga., Operation Blessing is looking for volunteer teams of 2 or more to help gut flood-damaged homes in the Atlanta area.

Operation Blessing will provide food, lodging and work coordination. Volunteers will be responsible for transportation to and from the work sites.

The group is gearing up for recovery. VOLUNTEER HOUSING will be available. FREE, but you must work on Operation Blessing work orders. Showers and Kitchen Available. 50 beds, plus the homes of individual parisioners. Volunteers MUST have their own local transportation to/from work sites. Volunteers MUST be in work teams of 2.

9/30/09 GAVOAD ConCall Notes:

Operation Blessing (Jody Herrington)
• Still working from previous 2 locations. Have had about 200 volunteers.
• Special thanks to LDS for outreach to avoid duplication of agency efforts.
• Extending appeal for photos of volunteer flood recovery work to include in Atlanta Braves Foundation slideshow during select games. Email photos to Jody by 5:00 PM today.
• Exploring possibilities for community-level rebuild project with local businesses, if interested contact Jody.

• Still doing mud-outs in Powder Springs on Lindsey Dr. Also looking at a neighborhood in need in Decatur.
• Volunteer base camp set up on Agape Way in Decatur at Assembly of God Tabernacle. Point of distribution at Warehouse of Hope in Douglasville.
