Georgia Business Force

The Georgia Office of Homeland Security works in partnership with the corporate sector group BENS. The Business Executives for National Security (BENS), a nationwide, non-partisan organization, engages the energy of senior business executives to enhance the nation's security. BENS members bring their business experience to the table with the understanding that neither the government nor business can do the job alone.

In 2003 and under charter by the governor, BENS members in the Southeast Region initiated a program…The Georgia Business Force…to implement an effective public-private partnership for homeland security.

Based on the need to expand its operational capabilities and engage businesses throughout the state, the Georgia Business Force (GBF) became a free-standing not-for-profit entity in 2009. This non-partisan coalition of CI/KR (critical infrastructure / key resource) companies and associations remains dedicated to supporting state government in preparation for and response to disasters and homeland security threats. The GBF retains close ties with BENS Southeast Region in the public-private partnership and all policy issues.

The GBF established and manages the Business Operations Center within GEMA and works closely with the Division of Public Health, Georgia Office of Homeland Security, GISAC, FEMA Region IV, and other state agencies.
