ATLANTA (Sept. 22, 2009) -The Atlanta Community ToolBank is extending free tool usage to groups participating in flood related clean-up efforts. Nonprofits, neighborhood associations, schools, faith-based organizations and other eligible charitable groups can borrow equipment for up to two weeks. The ToolBank inventory includes over 150 tool types with everything from trash grabbers to large ladders ready for action.

"The Atlanta Community ToolBank is a nonprofit for nonprofits," said Patty Russart, ToolBank's Executive Director. "Our Tool Lending Program enables groups across greater Atlanta to complete more projects, while saving crucial funds for use in their respective core missions. When unexpected emergencies such as this arise, we feel compelled to help meet the urgent needs our charitable sector may not have the funding in place to support. "

The ToolBank operates as an agency membership program, with eligible groups paying a nominal annual fee to access the inventory. Typically, members pay a small handling fee to borrow tools in order to help repair and maintain tools. Due to the anticipated need for clean-up resources, all handling fees will be waived for any project directly related to the recent flood damage. Agencies will need join the ToolBank in order to borrow tools, with the added benefit of year-round inventory access!

"ToolBank membership enables eligible charitable groups to use tools throughout the year and shop our Rescue & Reuse program, which features a variety of new and gently used sundries including small hardware, cleaning products and painting accessories at 90% below retail pricing," Russart explained. "Membership is required for any tool usage in order to ensure accountability and proper tracking. Fortunately, the generosity of our community donors and corporate sponsors enables us to maintain low cost membership range of $10-$100, with annual membership dues based on each organization's individual budget."

In addition to monetary support, the Atlanta Community ToolBank accepts new and gently used tool donations year-round. "Neighbor helping neighbor is the founding principle behind all ToolBank operations," stated Jessica Pohto, ToolBank Board President. "A crisis such as the current flooding throughout Georgia illustrates why ToolBank inventory is so vital and must continue to place safe, appropriate equipment in the hands of working volunteers."
