Notes
The Commission strongly encourages volunteers to become affiliated with, and trained by, a voluntary relief organization prior to disasters occurring. For a list of the voluntary organizations that respond to disasters:

After a disaster, Volunteer Reception Centers or Emergency Volunteer Centers may be opened for spontaneous volunteers to visit to be matched with an opportunity to help.
If volunteers are needed in North Carolina after a disaster, the Commission will provide a message to the media that will include instructions on how volunteers can register to help.

Volunteer Now!
Do you want to be a volunteer, but aren't sure of the opportunities that are available in your local community? Volunteer Centers in North Carolina are the key resource for volunteer involvement in local communities across the state. They make up the largest infrastructure dedicated to volunteerism and volunteer efforts. Staff at a Volunteer Center can provide information about volunteer opportunities that are available in the local community. Volunteer Centers are located in many North Carolinian counties.
