About this facility
- Mission
- from the website: Partners In Development, Inc. (PID) was founded in 1990 by James and Gale Hull of Ipswich, Massachusetts as a Christian service organization committed to the education and economic advancement of the developing world. Partners In Development works in direct partnership with those living in extreme poverty (those living on less than $1 per person per day) through our national overseas staff in Haiti and Guatemala (click here to see our locations). PID provides material, financial, and educational resources, which enables the poor to construct and implement their own programs for development. PID began its mission by offering a child sponsorship program. It has expanded from sponsoring a dozen children, when the program first began, to sending hundreds of children to school. Families who had children in the sponsorship program reported they needed help finding work. The result was our Small Business Loan Program, which lends participants capital to start or further develop a business. PID has provided over 450 Small Business Loans. Squalor living conditions prompted the beginning of the Housing Program. The Housing Program moves families from inadequate housing to sturdy homes with bathroom facilities, clean water and a yard. In an effort to provide whole life improvement a Medical Program was established in 2003 to provide basic medical treatment, preventive care, and health education services. PID hosts work trips to Haiti and Guatemala throughout the year. Trip attendees can learn how to build a house by hand at building site and health professionals can volunteer their services to families in our programs. PID is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization. All donations are tax deductible.

With good news regarding the safety of our Field Directors in Haiti and learning that our medical clinic there is standing, we are busy coordinating our relief efforts.
PID plans to bring a relief team to Haiti soon. We are still working on the logistics and will provide details as they become available. We are looking for medical professionals and experienced travelers to join the team. If you are interested, please fill out the relief trip application. We will be reviewing applications and contacting everyone who submits one.
We are also collecting medical supplies and have set up a drop off center for local donations. If you have an item to donate, please bring it to:
Immanuel Baptist Church
45 Central Street
Ipswich, MA 01938
Please go in the front door of the church and the donation room will be directly in front of you. The donation room will be open seven days a week from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
We are encouraging people who want to help to make a financial donation, as there will be a long road of recovery ahead. You can donate using the PayPal button on the site, or send a check to
Partners In Development, PO Box 9, Ipswich, MA 01938

Update From The Ipswich Office of Partners In Development
Still no word from our staff and friends in Port-au-Prince. We are anxious to hear if everyone is ok, as well as to know the status of our medical clinic. Here in the U.S. we have been overwhelmed with the response of people wanting to travel with us and help out with the relief efforts. Gale will return to the U.S. over the weekend and begin planning the logistics for the emergency medical relief trip. We hope that this team can leave for Haiti sometime next week. Please continue to pray for the people of Port-au-Prince, and for the relief efforts that are currently underway.

Update From The Ipswich Office of Partners In Development
We have not been able to establish communication with any of our staff in Haiti since the earthquake struck. At this point, we do not have reports about anyone in our program. Since the area hardest hit is the main street in Port au Prince during the hour that it would be most crowded, we believe that people from all areas of Port au Prince will be affected. Partners In Development’s President, Gale Hull, is currently in Guatemala and is scheduled to fly into to Port au Prince on Sunday if the airport is reopened at that time.
We are in the process of coordinating a team to go to Haiti and assist once Gale can accurately assess the situation. Partners In Development has a medical clinic in Port au Prince and we will be able to assist people medically. We are looking for medical professionals and experienced travelers to join the team. If you are interested in going, please contact Lisa Lassey, Director of Program Development at lisa@pidonline.org or call her at 978-471-9922.
We are also currently seeking donations of gauze, bandages, antibiotics, and pain relief medications. Please call or email Hannah to schedule a donation drop off at our Ipswich office at hannah@pidonline.org or 978-417-9250. Our office’s address is at 4 Spring Street in Ipswich, MA.
Partners In Development has also set up an emergency relief fund for the earthquake victims in Haiti. Donations can be made using the button above or can be sent to PID, PO Box 9, Ipswich, MA 01938.
Please continue to check our website for updates regarding the situation in Haiti. Also, you can view Gale Hull’s Twitter messages on our website. She will not be able to respond to all emails directly, but will be posting updates on Twitter as they become available.
Partners In Development has been serving the extreme poor in Haiti since 1990. We serve over 3,000 people in Port au Prince.
Thank you for your concern for the people in Haiti and continue to pray for them.
