The Acton Town Hall and the Acton Police Department are available to help citizens in emergency situations.
In the event of a public disaster:
John Murray is listed on the (Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency) MEMA site as the Acton Emergency Management contact. But he's no longer an employee.
Doug Halley, Health Director has been charged with developing a "Pan-Demic" response plan. He, along with his staff and a team from Boston University, created a VERY comprehensive disaster response plan that seems to be applicable to any public disaster. Among the topics covered, which Doug is prepared to respond to: shelter operations management, food operations management, santitary infrastructure management, and supply logistics. As part of this project, the group is compiling lists of cell phone numbers of key operations managers, business managers (i.e. warehouses, food logistics (local supermarkets), etc). The group has started negotiating Mutual Aid agreements with other towns, and businesses to allow quick response on a regional basis.
Dore Hunter (978 264 9603 or 978 263 0882) heads up the Acton Neighborhood Network, a community "communications" network consisting of volunteers in each neighboorhood that check on elderly residents etc. 978 263 0882. Dore is a Selectman, as has military experience. HAM radio operator.
Acton has a local radio station with emergency broadcast instructions for volunteers to get it up and running in a disaster situation. WHAB 89.1 FM.

Also, Acton, like Concord, has a "network" of people that communicate in the event of a disaster or just in times when there's something that a lot of people should know, like that there's been a prison break. The network consists of Neighborhood Coorinators that help get "the message" out, if there's a safety-oriented "situation."
Automated reverse 911 in place at Police Station.
ANN Emergency FRS Common Frequency: Channel 12 - 467.6625 MHZ Code Zero
Acton Neighborhood Network is a volunteer, part time, private, community building, informal organization intended to provide inter and intra neighborhood communications and prepare for emergencies and home land defense. Due to the nature of its undertaking there is always some likelihood that its communications will not be timely or complete, citizens should be guided accordingly.
