About this facility

Mission
Our mission at Oasis for Children Inc. is "Our Attempt at Saving Innocent Souls." (OASIS) We are dedicated and passionate about saving the lives of the forgotten children of Haiti, by providing a safe loving environment, health care, education, and a deep spiritual foundation in God. The Oasis orphanage was opened on July 1, 2003 (with nine children) in a small town named Beudet, which is about 1 1/2 miles north of Croix-des-Bouqets. We are a diverse group of people from different countries and have various backgrounds, but we all share the desire, passion and a love for these children. OASIS has done mass feedings, paid school tuitions for students, and provided them with clothing. Oasis is changing the lives of Haiti's forgotten children through "Our Attempt at Saving Innocent Souls." OASIS

2/20/10 LTel: Phone conversation with Luceanna Moore - STILL NO SUPPLIES DELIVERED - CRITICAL IMMEDIATE NEEDS ARE:

FOOD
WATER
TENT

Still sleeping out in the open and it's raining.

The evacuation of these 9 children has fallen through. Emailed God's Littlest Angels contact to Luceanna to see if they will take the children at their orphanage in Petionville which is only about 1 hr. 10 minutes away.

Sending out an alert to get supplies immediately to NGO's and volunteers.

LTEL - Email update 2/9/10 from Director Luceanna Moore:

Greetings Leslie,
I hope all is going well with you. I was just wondering if it is possible for you to help get some food and water to the children at the orphanage. As of now, it looks like they will be out there for another 4 days beofre they get moved to a better location. Please let me know.

LTel - 1/29/10 update - Luceanna Moore, Dir./Stateside:

-Has plenty of rice
-URGENTLY needs beans
-URGENTLY needs water (running very low)
-URGENTLY needs Spaghetti/canned goods

Working on moving the children to temporary children in the next two days to get them to shelter where it is secure and they have food at a church in Kotin which is 1 1/2 hours East of their location. They are having a hard time securing a truck to move the kids.

On Wed. 2/2 an orphanage in Pignone (4 1/2 hours from PaP) has agreed to take the children on a temporary basis until they can secure a safe place closer to home when the danger passes and more supplies are available locally. Problem is they have 3 staffers and this orphanage won't allow them to stay with the children and they are very attached to these people and already very traumatized.

Some of the children are getting sick and weak for lack of food/water and the conditions sleeping out in the open air and in the dirt and dust.

They need at least a couple days worth of food URGENTLY to get them through until these kids are evacuated.

Provided contact with the director of Greater Works Home For Girls in Delmas/PaP to see if he will accept these children if even on a temporary basis since they can provide shelter/food for now in a secure environment. According to my stateside contact they may only be able to take the girls (there are 7 girls and 2 boys from Oasis).

Ideally, another orphanage close by that is secure that will take ALL the children AND the 3 staff members would be optimum.

1/26/10 LTel: Luceanna Moore advised spoke to Suzanne in Haiti at 3:30 pm. They have run completely out of food and water and no means to get supplies, no contact from any Aid Relief. It is too dangerous to enter the bank to withdraw money to purchase supplies as they have no security to escort. They are very wary about being robbed for money or supplies. They are urgently trying to move the children to a safer more secure orphanage that will take them in. Luceanna's father lives in Haiti and they are going to try to get to him to help with security and moving the kids, but he is homeless also.

1/25/10 LTel: Spoke to Luceanna Moore, Founder of Oasis Orphanage & Suzanne, the Orphanage Caregiver had not been heard from since Fri. 1/22/10. At that time they had 2 days of food/water left.
