- Catholic Charities is an umbrella agency of health and community services programs located throughout the Archdiocese of New Orleans and beyond. Catholic Charities is a United Way Partner Agency.
Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans is the largest health and human service provider in Southeast Louisiana. We are a not-for-profit agency made up of 38 programs and serve the poor and vulnerable population of our community, regardless of religion, race, color, or economic status. Catholic Charities serves the physical area of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, which is made up of the civil parishes of Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, Tangipahoa, and St. Tammany.
Emergency Relief Services:
Emergency Relief Services are based on a long term case management structure. A case manager helps identify the client's need, and by addressing this need, helps bring the client to self-sufficiency. Services include referral, budgeting tips, employment training and spiritual counseling. Financial assistance is available based on the client's greatest need, which could include rent, food, utilities, prescription drugs, furniture, crisis counseling, and miscellaneous assistance. - Service

Notes
August 2012: http://www.ccano.org/
Damage assessments are now underway and it is clear that many residents in the 8 civil parishes of the Archdiocese of New Orleans will need assistance to recover from Hurricane Isaac. Archbishop Gregory Aymond and Catholic Charities leadership are finalizing a response plan that will launch immediately and will begin with crisis counselors and case managers working with evacuees in the state’s evacuation shelters. Other teams will fan out into the affected areas beginning Friday, August 31, 2012. Residents of Plaquemines Parish, the towns of Slidell, LaPlace, Madisonville and Mandeville have suffered the most damage, but the situation remains fluid and assessments continue to identify damage.
Please consider a donation to assist us as we begin the task of helping those devastated by this storm. http://www.ccano.org/ways-you-can-give/
As the City of New Orleans and surrounding areas prepare for Hurricane Isaac, Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans (CCANO) remains ready to respond to the needs of the community especially in times of crisis. We continue to offer care, support and prayer for all those who will feel the effects of Isaac. With so much uncertainty as to the scale and impact that this storm will bring, your support now is crucial in ensuring that CCANO can provide immediate care and assistance to those who need it most in the wake of the storm. Our readiness and response to the impending threat of hurricane conditions is possible through the continued support from friends and donors like YOU.
The needs of our clients and the community only grows exponentially with the scale and uncertainty of this hurricane threat. Evacuation costs for our residential clients, response and relief efforts for the community in the aftermath of the storm and our ability to provide aid and assistance to our caregivers who will be on the front lines of providing relief depend on support we receive NOW.
PLEASE GIVE TODAY. Your gift sustains our continued programming throughout Hurricane Isaac and enables us to immediately provide for the increased needs of the community in the aftermath of this storm.
CCANO continues to monitor Hurricane Isaac. For our latest news and updates, follow Twitter @CathCharitiesNO, and the Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans Facebook page.
Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans and the community are bound together in prayer and preparation. Thank you for your support!

How to help
We at Catholic Charities deeply appreciate the support of our donors as we respond to the catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico by providing services for the fishermen of the impacted communities. At the present time, we are currently accepting monetary donations to fund our relief work. You may donate online, by mail or over the phone. If you are interested in donating food, please contact Second Harvest at 504-734-1322. If you have additional questions, please call 504-592-5685. Someone will return your call within 24 hours. 6/3/10 FROM THE SITE:
Catholic Charities is currently in need of volunteers to help us outreach to families who work in fishing-related industries affected by the oil spill. All volunteers must initially attend an Oil Spill/ Disaster Relief Volunteer Orientation; orientations will take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 2pm on the 10th floor of 1000 Howard Avenue New Orleans, LA 70113.
After volunteers attend an orientation, they will be able to volunteer the next day at a Catholic Charities Community Center in either St. Bernard or New Orleans East.
Volunteers will be taking surveys and helping to distribute food. St. Bernard needs volunteers on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9am-2pm; New Orleans East needs volunteers Monday-Friday who are either bilingual or interpreters of Vietnamese. Volunteers must be 18 or older and must have their own transportation. Volunteers must also be willing to travel to locations that are 30-45 minutes away. This is the only oil spill-related volunteer opportunity that we currently have available. If you have any questions or concerns, please, call 504-310-6978 or email volunteer @archdiocese-no.org.
