Fire Department asking some Ski Island residents to voluntarily evacuate homes
The Oklahoma City Fire Department is asking Ski Island residents whose homes back up to Spring Creek to voluntarily evacuate while they evaluate the dam on Hefner, just west of MacArthur. Firefighters are currently going door-to-door alerting residents.
Trash services impacted by flooding
Some areas of the weekly trash and monthly bulk waste collection routes are inaccessible due to flooding.
Many trash carts and recycle bins have floated down streets. Residents should retrieve their carts when it is safe to do so.
Weekly collection will continue in areas in which trucks can get to the carts. If the water subsides in the inaccessible areas, crews will run those routes as they can get to them.
Bulk waste collection will resume when lightning ceases, but will be collecting only in areas they can access. Cart delivery service is also on hold until the flood water subsides.
Special collections of storm-related tree debris are on hold until road conditions improve
