About this facility

Mission
About Us 1st & Alton is a grassroots Haiti-relief movement which utilized Facebook to collect individual, community and corporate donations in excess of $10 million for earthquake victims. Then we went to Port Au Prince to help. Forever touched, we are now dedicated to the long-term rehabilitation of Haiti’s people and infrastructure. Accordingly, we have applied for IRS 501c3 status as a Miami-based non-profit.
Service

We are mobilizing a rehabilitation center in Port Au Prince, offering pediatric amputees a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment to cope with lost limbs

Prosthetic components are generally not reused in the United States because of legal considerations. However, used prosthetic limbs may be disassembled and the components reused to make new ones for children and adults who suffered amputations after the Earthquake.
1St & Alton provide peer support and aid to those who have lost one or more limbs either through traumatic or surgical amputation. Our mission is to restore mobility and independence to disadvantaged amputees by providing the best available practical solutions for prosthetic care and rehabilitation.
