Prior to the January 2010 earthquake, Men nan Men ran a school and orphanage for approximately 80 children and provided food, water, medical support, education and cultural programs for the community. Following the 2010 earthquake, Men nan Men took on the care of displaced children and is currently responsible for 215 children. The facility for the children fell in the earthquake and the children have since been moved to temporary locations. They have most recently been evacuated from their temporary location at Food for the Poor in Carrefour. Men nan Men's major goals in the wake of the 2010 catastrophe are to 1) secure a safe, healthy and permanent/semi-permanent location for the children in their care; 2) secure food, clean water, sanitation and medical attention for the displaced orphans and children in their care; 3) learn how to collaborate with the international aid community and haitian government ; 4) continue to support the men, women and elderly in need in their community.
